In the past three years, vegetarianism has doubled. Even for non-vegetarians or vegans, following a plant based diet and cutting back on meat consumption has become a popular trend. Olympic snowboarder, Hannah Teter, competed in Sochi on the highest athletic level we know fueled on nothing but veggies! After publicly going vegan, Beyonce’s bod was all the talk at the Grammy’s. But, recent news says those on a plant based diet get more heavy metals in their diet than those who eat animals.

What is the right way to undertake a plant-based diet? And how do you maintain an athletic level of performance using only plant-based proteins? According to Nutrition Journal, a recent study revealed for the first time that plant-based rice protein has identical health benefits to animal-based whey protein for muscle growth and repair.
